Carlillos Cocina, located in a tiny, old-school diner, can be easy to miss but it’s well worth searching out. Carlillos in Sparks is a Mexican brunch spot that could easily take the spot for best Mexican food in Reno, not just breakfast. Our favorites include the enchiladas verde and La Machaca: scrambled eggs, shredded beef, bell peppers and tomatoes. Don’t miss this one!

Squeeze In

Squeeze In

Squeeze In originated in downtown Truckee, CA in a location so small that guests would literally have to “squeeze in” to sit down to one of their famous breakfasts. Thankfully, Squeeze In has expanded since 1974 and they have multiple locations across Reno and Sparks! Squeeze In’s “Racy Tracy” omelette was made famous on the Food Network by Bobby Flay, and is pure California in every bite: mushrooms, Monterey Jack cheese, bacon, and of course, plenty of avocado. Wash it all down with a pitcher of mimosas!

Peg’s Glorified Ham & Eggs

Peg’s is a staple in Reno, and has been family-run since they opened up their first Oregon restaurant in 1959. Fred and Peg closed down the Oregon locations and retired in Reno where they decided to plant their restaurant roots once again. In addition to the breakfast mainstays, their menu includes a number of Hawaiian classics such as the Loco Moco: white rice, ground chuck, gravy, and two eggs, which was named the Best Loco Moco Outside of Hawaii by the Food Network! Peg’s Glorified Ham & Eggs is so good, you won’t want to sleep in!

Stone House Cafe

If you’ve never been to The Stone House Cafe, you are missing out! This restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner (all amazing, btw) but it’s their breakfast that really shines. Stone House’s outdoor seating is shaded by lots of beautiful greenery, making it the perfect morning setting for enjoying a lobster omelette or their chorizo breakfast pizza. Their breakfast menu also features a number of styles of eggs benedict. Try their pulled pork benedict, topped with a cilantro & jalapeno hollandaise or you can opt instead for their smoked salmon benedict with a green onion and caper hollandaise. Delicious!

You’ll typically find a line out the door at Two Chicks on Sunday morning, and for good reason! This delicious breakfast joint was started by the owners of the local Gourmelt food truck and features many of the melts that made them famous. Our favorite menu items include the Wiseguy: fontina cheese, salami, and artichoke hearts on sourdough bread, and the Red Chick Scramble: eggs scrambled with ham, mushrooms, spinach, and cream cheese all over some home fries. We promise, you’ll love it!

This is the place to go if you are SERIOUSLY hungry. Their portions are enormous. You might need to be rolled out of Harrah’s after finishing a meal here. If a huge breakfast is what you’re looking for, you’d be wise to order their amazing Sage Fried Chicken & Waffle Tower: two sage fried chicken breasts, smoked bacon waffles, hot maple reduction, fried leeks, and two eggs. Incredible!
